You Can Help the Children of Illinois
The success of our students is imperative in YOU getting involved to advocate for students to have access to computer science. Whether or not students have access will impact each and every resident of Illinois. This issue isn’t a Chicago or affluent issue; this is an EVERYONE issue for Illinois residents. Every day that passes that our students don’t have access to computer science education is another day that they are falling behind their peers. The time to act is NOW!
“The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.”
Volunteer
Volunteers are the lifeblood of CS4IL. Whether you are interested in serving as a member of our Volunteer Corps, a regional representative assisting us in capturing regional success stories of innovative learning happening in nearby school districts, a member of our statewide leadership team, or on our Board of Directors, there is a home for you as a CS4IL volunteer. There is no shortage of opportunities to contribute to the growth of CS4IL that will make a lasting difference in the lives of today’s students.
No matter whether you can commit a few hours per year or several hours per week, and no matter what skill set you bring to the table, we work on projects throughout Illinois, at all scales, while taking on some of the most difficult barriers preventing all Illinois students from participating in high-quality computer science learning experiences. The work our volunteers do is not always easy; anyone who has engaged in systemic change in education will tell you it is neither for the impatient nor the perfectionist. But if you’re someone who seeks to do meaningful, impactful, inclusive, collaborative, results-driven, and personally satisfying work that opens doors for children in your own community, you will find what you seek in volunteering with CS4IL.

Join the Volunteer Corps
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit built entirely in service to all students, teachers, and schools throughout Illinois, CS4IL relies on the generosity of the many individuals who have joined us over the years to volunteer their time, talents, experience, wisdom, perspective, and perseverance in helping us progress ever closer to achieving our core mission. Members of our volunteer corps work collaboratively with our leadership to identify specific roles in how they can be of best service. From there, our volunteer corps members begin working with us, interfacing directly with regional and/or state CS4IL leadership on projects that matter.
Members of our volunteer corps may or may not have experience serving a nonprofit in any capacity, and they may or may not have more than a few hours per month available to serve CS4IL. But all members of our volunteer corps hold a deep understanding of and an unwavering commitment to our mission, and because of the work they do in service to this mission, each is as invaluable to our organization as anyone else affiliated with the organization. We launched in 2018 as a statewide grassroots organization, and our volunteer corps honors that grassroots origins through its work and its achievements.
